Matilda Florone Scott

SCOTT, Matilda Florone-91, West Green Harbour, passed away at home on June 30th. with her family by her side. Born in East Jordan she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian (Smeltzer) Wamback. Matilda is the last surviving member of her immediate family. “Aunt Mattie” as she was fondly known in the community always had an open house for anyone in need. Everyone knew on what day “Aunt Mattie” was baking bread or pies and that was the day to visit. The teapot was always on the stove for those who “dropped” in. At a very young age, after the death of her mother, she kept house for her father, seven brothers, two uncles and her sister. After her marriage to Maynard, she brought up seven children and however many children that came and forgot to go home. She also, in her spare time, worked at the fish processing plant in Lockeport. She was a past member of the Eastern Star. Matilda is survived by sons, Bill (Lynn), Donald (Paulette), East Jordan; Ivan (Joy), Bridgewater; daughters, Janet (Ken), Jordan Falls, and Martha (Ralph), Port Clyde. She is also survived by grandchildren, David, Janet, Debbie, Daniel, Rob, Scott, Wanda, Wendy, Troy, Wade, Maynard 3rd, Karah, Darcie, D.J, Michelle, Christopher, Tammy and Frankie , plus great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. She is also survived by daughters-in-law, Dale and June. She was predeceased by her husband, Maynard Sr., sons, Kenneth, Maynard Jr., brothers, Charlie, Sydney, Arthur, Cecil, Clarence, Hilbert and Harry and one sister, Margaret. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3rd. from 7-9 pm in H.M. Huskilson`s Funeral Home, Lockeport where the funeral will be held on Thursday at 1:30pm with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Burial in West Green Harbour Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
